WIP-Ribbon Awareness

I got this pose from a Lane Bryant magazine cover. I like pose of the ladies which they were showing off the jeans. I thought about doing the ribbons of awareness and I wanted to do different ethinecities. Its a work in progress.

Ribbons included:

Purple- Alzhermier's Disease

Red- AIDs

Yellow- Soliders

Pink/Blue-Infertility

Pink-Breast Cancer

All of these ribbons have affect my life in some way. Check these other Awareness Ribbons

Gretchen Grundler from Recess

This was done for a contest on deviant art---> Gretchen Grundler 2.0

The contest is to take a 90s cartoon character and portray them as they would be in 2011 by updating hairstyles, face, clothing, and etc. I wanted to stay true to the Recess character and only age her.

I was asked by CD to take a photo from the site above and draw it. All photos are taken by black photographers. I changed the face and added a big bun in the back of her head. Ill update the dress more but this is still a work in progress. I wanted to stay true to the photo as much as possible. When I look at it I think of summer and sitting on the veranda drinking a nice cold glass of lemonade. Oh I also have her eyes open. Right now I have named this piece "Lady in Chair" but Im working on a name.

Im in the process of drawing my friend Krystal at the bottom. She drew me and now it's my turn to draw her.

I started this one of her son Nolan but told her she has to finish it hopefully she will.

Olivia n Romel

Here is where it started---> Black Love

This is Olivia and Romel. They have been married for 2 years. They fell in love back in college where she studied communications and he studied business management. They graduated from college in 2007 and settled down in Charlotte, NC. He is a manager at a big corporation and she works for the local radio station in PR and marketing department. They make each other better and after 4 years Romel was finally ready to propose to his nubian queen. They are some much in love and today they celebrate their 2nd wedding anniversary and their 6th year of knowing each. They are the perfect example of black love....heck plain old soulmate love.
